Dr. Michael Felver joins CIP Advisory Board

CIP is excited to welcome Dr. Michael Felver to our Advisory Board following a unique international and domstic career as a medical doctor with the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Felver's background differs quite a bit from that of our other board members.  "I am a trained clinician scientist (biochemistry) and transitioned my career from lab research at the National Institutes of Health to clinical medicine 30 years ago.  I am published in medical and biochemistry journals.  I retired from Cleveland Clinic where I spent my entire clinical career.  For most of that time, my practice focused on nursing homes.  I still serve on the board of OMDA-The Ohio Society for Post-Acute and Long Term Care Medicine.  This is the statewide organization for professionals who practice in nursing homes.  While I have no direct experience in climatology, my scientific background allows me to keep a critical eye on that subject and easily wade through the jargon.  My hope for CIP is that we can develop a niche in environmental justice that attracts attention to the organization.  Since this topic has applicability for the entire world, I'm hopeful that it will help us grow substantially."

Dr. Felver has extensive experience overseas, which adds another dimension to the valuable perspective he will bring to CIP.  "In 2000-2001, I was part of the Cleveland Clinic team of doctors that brought the Emir of Abu Dhabi and President of the UAE to Cleveland for medical treatment. Treating his Highness not only in Cleveland but also in Abu Dhabi and his favorite cities, London and Geneva. The successful effort led to the construction of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, the largest hospital in the Middle East."

"I've also have had the privilege of serving as the tour physician for the Cleveland Orchestra from 2005-2019. I've accompanied them to Europe and Asia where they have performed in the UK, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Austria, Japan, and Korea."
